After a series of successful Java Boot Camp for Teachers, the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) and Orange and Bronze Software Labs recently organized a gathering with the deans and professors of various universities in Manila. The agenda of this meeting was to get updates and feedback regarding the roll out and acceptance of the Java Boot Camp in various universities across Manila. Six renowned universities in Manila (University of the East, Jose Rizal University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Technological Institute of the Philippines – Manila, Technological Institute of the Philippines – Quezon City, and Far Eastern University East Asia) participated in the roll out of the Java Boot Camp. The turn out was considered a success as 150 students from the six participating universities took the Java Boot Camp as a special class. On November 17, 2008, Orange and Bronze conducted a one-day mentoring session for the professors from the participating schools. Aside from mentoring, the day was also dedicated to discussing the mid-assessment exam given to the students who took the JBC class. This gave the teachers an opportunity to put forth and discuss the things that worked and the problems that they encountered during the roll out, as well as suggestions for the succeeding roll out.
